To the FF-Gold Coast ambassadors and the FF-Toulouse-Goyrans hosts :
Fantastic farewell evening : a cruise on the Garonne !
On Tuesday 18th September 2018, the boat was by the quay of the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-La-Daurade : it had a deck in front and a room inside, and was just the right size for our group of around 35 people.
On board, slowly we found ourselves, with a drink, in the middle of the river Garonne, between Hotel-Dieu Saint-Jacques former hospital and the high quayside wall opposite, and facing Pont-Neuf !
Night was falling : it was as warm as Summer, perhaps it was Indian Summer ?
A man was water-skiing, three rowing-boats were passing quickly and silently.
Some small insects were turning around us on the boat.
Hundreds of starlings were beautifuly making large circles or waves before settling for the night in the high trees of an island.
Then we saw a bus crossing the next bridge : Pont-Saint-Michel and after the last one : Pont-Pierre-de-Coubertin the boat turned round.
It was quite dark when we reached Pont-Neuf again, and at that time it was exceptionnal for the sides of this beautiful bridge were illuminated ?
We could admire « the eight majestic arches – built in brick and cut limestone – and its pillars that are hollowed out in order to limit the pressure of the water, a technique that has allowed it to withstand the whims of the river… »
When the boat stopped : crowds of young people, students, tourists, etc. were sitting, drinking, eating, smoking, etc. on the grass surrounded by the quayside walls made of brick of Port-La-Daurade…
I have been very pleased to enjoy this wonderful evening cruise with the Australian group of FF-Gold Coast and the French of FF-Toulouse-Goyrans :
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, it was really great !!!
